Yr.2, Days 5-7 to Goal - Street Food

It is week one of my "June Eat Well Challenge" and I ate perfectly well, except for yesterday. On Wednesday, I will weigh in and I am hoping for a loss because my summer capris are not fitting too well and it's supposed to be very hot and humid this week.

Yesterday we went to a Buskerfest, as my husband and son both enjoy street performing. My husband can ride a 6 ft. unicycle, while juggling lit torches- yes, he is a freak of nature! Our son has decided to be just like his Daddy, and is learning to ride his smaller unicycle and enjoys blowing fire and diabolo tricks.

With a Buskerfest comes copious varieties of street food. Oh my goodness - it smelled so good! I said NO many times to the various booths we passed, opting for the healthiest option, which was chicken and vegetables on a pita. I made a vital mistake and had a small soft serve ice cream cone, which blows my perfect eating for June.

Although I wasn't perfect, I plan to work hard for the rest of the challenge and GET TO GOAL for September 1st.

One positive thing that happened on the weekend, was that I had a "feel good"moment at a wedding I played for. I was a bit anxious about the wedding, because it was a wedding of a very wealthy student of mine. Teaching at a school for the financially elite, I have come to learn that wealth and thin go together! I thought I would look like an elephant at the wedding, but I was far from the biggest person there. I must say, I hated looking around and realizing that, because I am so against sizing people up. Regardless, I did not feel out of place at all, even without botox in my face!

I am aiming for a good exercise week.

Eating less, moving more,
Dawne

When you were obese, didn't you look around to see if you were the fatest person there? Were you sizing them up or yourself back then?

Was it really any different this time except, of course, that you knew you wouldn't be the fatest--but still, weren't you just looking to see where you placed in the crowd? Where YOU placed.

That look arouond the room was about you--your insecurity, your body image, and your need to see how out of place you were. It was not about sizing THEM up. Don't make it more than it was.

Wow, Dawne, your husband is a real showman, and your son in training! I bet that's a fun performance to watch.

Progress > perfection, friend.

=)

Congrats on your first week of the challenge!

One icecream cone won't stop you from losing ;)
Hope you are having a great day!

Oh Dawne, you DID NOT blow it! You didn't! You didn't engorge yourself on all the delicious street food. You found the healthiest option and enjoyed one small treat in moderation. THAT is eating well! =)

How on earth does one learn to ride a 6' unicycle and juggle flaming torches???? Goodness!

You are amazing and I'm glad you felt good about yourself at the wedding. =)
