Yr. 2, Day 341 - On Track Today...

All I can do is live life as it's dealt to me. I can have admirable intentions to eat healthy food in moderation for the rest of my life, but each day brings new choices. One healthy choice leads to another and the opposite is also quite true.

If I am going to be successful in losing the rest of my weight and keeping it off, I have to stop planning for Sept and beyond. I have to switch my focus from reaching number goals by specific dates to making wise decisions everyday. It's always tempting to focus on numbers, but my friend Jodi reminded me today that my focus used to be on healthy living. The number is a symptom of the real problem. I must focus and deal with the real problem and not the symptoms.

Of course it is such a simple concept and we all know the "One day at a time" mantra, but sometimes I need to be reminded of simple things. I have been trying to solve tomorrow's weight issues today. It doesn't work that way.

Today's healthy choices included-

Breakfast - 1 egg, 1 egg white
1/4 cup Greek Yogurt 0% fat, 1/2 banana, 1/4 cup blueberries, splash of OJ - smoothie

Lunch - taco salad - lettuce, tomatoes, 1/4 cup extra lean ground beef with organic taco seasoning, 10 whole wheat taco chips (90 calories), 2 tbsp Greek Yogurt, sprinkle of cheese

Supper - 1 beef burger served in lettuce instead of a bun, 1/2 cup potato wedges cooked in EVOO, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, dessert - 1/2 cup mixed blueberries and strawberries, 1`/4 cup Greek 0% yogurt.

Eating less, moving more,
Dawne

Another thing I am guilty of is spending too much time thinking about past successes. Yes, one year ago, I was 10 pounds closer to goal than I am today. Three years ago, I was AT goal. But you know what?? That was then - this is NOW! And you are right. The most important day it TODAY and the many choices I must make TODAY. Great point - excellent reminder for all of us, not just yourself. Wishing for you another day of good choices!

I like what you said and what Sharon had to say.

When you focus on being healthy and making healthy choices rather than the number on the scale I think it's easier to keep making good choices.

Your meals sound so delicous!

I've been eating greek yogurt too. Lots of protein. I usually do six ounces mixed with sweet and low because it's so tart and then add raspberries or blueberries. Pineapple is really tasty because it's so juicy. For six ounces it's only 100 calories but with 18 grams of protein.

Oh, also wanted to encourage you about those clothes not fitting. Same thing happened to me when I lost 15 pounds then gained it. It stinks to have to re-lose again, but what else are we going to do with our time?

Those clothes will fit again.
